In the eighth part of the series, we get to know Laura in more detail and her work in the role of product manager. Read how Laura maintains open and effective communication between her team, stakeholders and other project parties.
- I have been at Graniit for a good 2 years.
- People. There are really great colleagues and an inspiring atmosphere here. I do 100 % customer projects, but I also go to Graniitti's office to meet Graniitti people.
- In the past, my free time has been spent on the children's hobbies. Now the life situation has changed, as one of my sons has moved on his own and the other is an exchange student. In the future, I will have more time for my hobbies. Especially in the winter I love skiing. I also like to go abroad whenever possible. Our family also includes the dog Teemu, with whom we do a lot of activities.
- I currently work in the role of product manager. I work closely in the customer interface and together we think about how we can develop their processes and systems to meet their business needs. I especially like working with end customers and fortunately I have been able to participate in really interesting projects. I work between business and IT, and my task is to ensure that the customer genuinely benefits from the solutions made and that the solutions support their business.
- My task is to ensure that the systems meet the business needs of the customers and to maintain the development roadmap. I am actively in contact with different customers and we work closely together to find the best solutions for them. Customers are different and have their own business needs, and it is my responsibility to guide development in the desired direction.
- I work in a field where official requirements and regulations affect operations a lot. Meeting these requirements and customer needs is sometimes challenging.
- In my opinion, the cornerstones of the project's success are transparent and active communication and overall management. In my own role, business knowledge and understanding of it are also an advantage. I think it is very important that the team has a good feeling to work and that everyone is committed to a common goal. It is worth working for this. The best solutions are made together with the customer and thus ensure that the right things are done.
- Very often in my projects, the client prioritizes what needs to be done and it is my responsibility to make sure that we do the right things in the right order in different projects. In large projects where several teams work on the same entity, it is important to remember the customer's needs and guide the work towards them.
- As a product manager, I work closely in liaison with the project manager. It is our responsibility to ensure that all necessary parties have the necessary information at the right time. I meet team members every day and this way communication is natural and efficient. I saw e.g. deviations can be dealt with effectively. I am lucky that I know my clients and their business well, and communication is therefore very natural and open. I want to be close to the customer and easily accessible.
- I enjoy the most when I get to work with customers and develop things and systems to meet their needs. My current team is also absolutely amazing and we have a good working mood.
